Begin by patting the tilapia fillets dry with paper towels. This will help them to sear properly when cooking. Season both sides of the fillets with salt and pepper.
In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
Add the lemon juice and lemon zest to the skillet, stirring well to combine with the garlic butter. Let this mixture simmer for about 2 minutes.
Carefully place the tilapia fillets into the skillet, cooking for 3-4 minutes on one side until golden and flaky. Turn the fillets gently using a spatula, and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes on the other side.
Sprinkle the dried oregano over the fillets while they cook, allowing the flavors to meld together.
Once cooked through, transfer the fillets to serving plates and spoon the remaining garlic butter sauce over the top. Garnish with fresh parsley for an added touch of color and flavor.
Notes
Serve with a side of vegetables or rice for a complete meal.
