Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and sugar. Mix well until it is smooth and glossy.
Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract and peppermint extract.
In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, folding gently to combine.
Mix in the dark chocolate chips until evenly distributed through the batter.
Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly using a spatula.
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter).
Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for about 15 minutes. Once cooled, sprinkle the crushed peppermint candies on top for that festive touch.
Cut the brownies into squares and serve. For an extra indulgence, you can top them with whipped cream.
